Sr. Ardeth Platte, OP, 84, who lived at the Dorothy Day Catholic Worker (DDCW) since 2018, entered eternal life on September 30, 2020. On October 3, 2020, members and friends of the DDCW held a Memorial Celebration of Life for Ardeth in the community garden. See: https://archive.org/details/memorial-ceremony

My love and gratitude for these Gospel blessings given by God, family, Dominican Community, friends, Intentional Communities and so many others who have blessed and inspired this journey:
– Born on Good Friday, April 10, 1936 into a loving family of big brother and missionary dad
– Seventy-nine years of life and sixty-six years as a Dominican Sister

through the luminary lens 
Your most recent posts remind me that we’ve lost the lifeforce of some incredibly conscientious, generous and faith-filled people, but as I’ve previously said, they leave behind bodies of written work and examples of lives we might yet choose to study and if possible, pick up some measure of their inspiration and carry it forward into our own lives of service. I really appreciate your links and direction. I wasn’t familiar with Sr. Ardeth Platte, and I’d like to read more. I’ve also been very touched by what you shared about the Fr. Charles Brandt. I am always glad to see when you’ve posted, Bruce. You have introduced me to some wonderful people!
Hi Debra – I haven’t expressed that freely about my grief at the loss of fr. Charles, and I hadn’t known about Sr. Ardeth Platte until after her death. It seems that in sharing on the cloud of witnesses among us or who have come before us is what moves me towards action, with hope and strength… especially considering this critical existential moment of our human history. And as I contemplate on the lives of so many amazing individuals, I am able to keep on keepin’ on (as that old 60’s saying used to go). I promise to continue with telling the stories of the many diverse fellow voices for goodness and well being…. you too Debra, among these people.
This woman sounds like a huge loss to humanity, but it sounds as though she never wasted a second of her time here on earth. RIP
