Fine words of wisdom from Tecumseh
During the War of 1812, Tecumseh’s confederacy allied with the British in The Canadas, and helped in the capture of Fort Detroit. American forces killed Tecumseh in the Battle of the Thames, in October 1813. His confederation fell apart, the British deserted their Indian allies at the peace conference that ended the War of 1812, the dream of an independent Indian state in the Midwest vanished. The memorial is magnificent! I really enjoyed Tecumseh’s quote. I don’t know much about him…..thank you for inspiring me to seek out more!
I should have made it clearer, that this mural is actually not of Tecumseh or a memorial to him. I was using artistic license. Sorry about misleading you. The mural above is located in Tuscon, so the person depicted would most likely be Apache. Tucemeseh was Shawnee, from the present day Ohio area.
The words of Tecumseh are powerful and timeless, aren’t they?
Beautiful, vibrant colors! I love the Tecumseh quotes. Tecumseh has always been a hero of mine, and we have several Tecumseh biographies on our bookshelves.
The vibrancy of the colour is amazing. And as for the quotes, even though Tecumseh spoke these words 200 years ago the message is timeless and universal, in my viewpoint.
I’ve never read an actual biography of Tecumseh, and with your background and expertise, I bet you have some interesting stories and insights. As always, I appreciate your comment.
What a fantastic mural. I remember where I grew up in London there were a number of huge murals that were real landmarks. The vibrant colours always made them stand out against the drab dirt stained architecture of the time.
Yes – murals and street art are so wonderful, adding vibrancy and social commentary to oftentimes bleak and standarized city streets and buildings. Thanks for the comment Ishaiya.

I love how you did the saturation. It makes the photo look so much more vibrant than in the original! It really boosts the colors!
Lowering the contrast and adding saturation really did help. It’s as if the mural had been in the sunlight, like the skyscraper behind it.

Thanks Seeker, We had been to the Brock monument on the Niagra river, where one of the key battles of the War of 1812 had taken place, and I had a photo of myself right next to a native memorial to Tecumseh. My wife asked me why I didn’t add it to this post – I guess that will happen another time.
