DYING DAYS (or fall farewell)
“It takes a broad vision to know that a piece of the sky and a chunk of the earth lie lodged in the heart of every human being, and that if we are going to care for that heart we will have to know the sky and earth as well …”
Thomas Moore
~ Care of the Soul ~
“The human race is challenged more than ever before to demonstrate our mastery, not over nature but of ourselves.”
― Rachel Carson
What’s up Doc?
Food for thought . . .
beautifully brought to life, Bruce!
i’m having an unexplained craving
for carrot juice 🙂
Who about carrot soup… or carrot muffins? Too bad you couldn’t drop by for some David. So nice to have the grace of your thoughts and your humour. Peace, my friend. 🙂
Nice. My garden is sleeping under a nice thick blanket of snow.
I’m sure you’ve got lots put away for the winter. We also picked fresh Kale and chard yesterday. The west coast has been unseasonably dry this fall. The new abnormal I guess. Cheers to you both. Bruce
A lovely, peaceful way to end what was for me a very busy, sometimes hectic, one. Thanks for that. Those carrots are amazing. 🙂

Your welcome This is the time of year for Fran and I when things slow down a lot. Glad you found pause and peace in this reflection Janet.
Thank you Bruce. Beautiful photos Brendan

I was thinking of you this morning Brendan… Thanks for touching base. I wanted to tell you my sister Heather died two weeks ago after suffering from COPD, too young at 68…. she was one of the keen athletes in our family. A sad time, but she had wonderful care from my siblings, a few of her friends, and the medical community’s palliative care. Heather was a very private person but she opened up during her last days. I plan to post a bit more about her in the upcoming weeks. Hey Brendan – I don’t have your email and I wondered about looking at the Sandplay slides? I hope you are well. In faith, love and hope – Bruce
I’m surprised your beautiful world is still unfrozen. We’ve had very cold weather here this week, more akin to January than November.
Here on Vancouver Island’s temperate rainforest next to the Pacific Ocean it’s usually quite mild at this time of year… but this fall there has been more sun and much less rain. The garden has loved it. From what you’re saying about your Massachusetts weather there’s unusual weather everywhere – as I’ve heard it said “the new norm.” I liked what Jerry Brown said … “it’s the new abnormal.” Maybe that’s why our carrots are still growing so well. I’m concerned though.
What a beautiful rainbow of living color! I appreciate the Rachel Carson quote. Maturity, self-mastery, is sadly not trending here in the USA.
It’s certainly the challenge of our times. USA is not totally alone in this Priscilla. Though it currently is absurdly evident. Rachel Carson give us a practical reminder.
“Absurdly evident” – well put!
Wow, your carrots are amazing!
Yes Rosaliene. We were away for 3 weeks and although we had previously been thinning the carrots we were surprised at the size of these beauties. They taste great too.
