NEW DAY DAWNS–High River, Alberta (transformation)
A tree gives glory to God by being a tree . . .
This particular tree will give glory to God by spreading out it roots in the earth and raising its branches in the air and the light in a way that no other tree before or after it ever did or will . . .
But what about you? What about me? ~ Thomas Merton ~
The image above was taken on November 18ā2017 and then transformed to appear like a painting by using Arcsoft PhotoStudio 5.5
The quote was borrowed from the book New Seeds of Contemplation published in 1962 by Thomas Merton.
Cheers ā Bruce
Very nice combination, Bruce. I have started to call trees “the standing beings”, and rivers are “the long beings of water”. Mountains are the “mighty ones”. Not sure where these came from, but it makes me happy.
Love your transformed winter landscape, Bruce.
To answer the question posed by Thomas Merton: What about me?
With deep strong roots
my branches welcome strangers
in need of love & warmth
Hi Rosalienne. I think Merton would give a smile and nod, in replying as thus. I certainly do š
thanks for your beautiful expression, Bruce š
Thanks for your appreciation, David.
Beautiful! I love a white winter landscape, looks like something out of a fairy tale.
The snow and sunny skies have certainly has been wonderful to experience here, Janaline. High River is within 50 kms of the Rocky Mountains too, and one warmer day we drove right up into Sheep River Provincial Park and saw a large herd of mountain sheep. All in all, this south-western part of Alberta is beautiful, with 3 nearby National Parks.
Love your photo/quote combination on this one Bruce
Thanks for your appreciation of this, Tina.
I love how the sunrise makes the tops of mountains and trees glow like this.
Because the park was the more out in the open, the trees here were the only ones so lit up by the morning sunlight – it was even more stunning than the photo shows and it totally stopped me in my tracks.
the blessing of a moment in time when everything seems transformed…
It looks beautiful and is a perfect way to start the Christmas season, my favorite of the year.
janet
Oh yes, Janet, and High River does a beautiful job of their Park at Christmas, with lights and free sleigh rides and such.
