We are capable of suffering with our world, and that is the true meaning of compassion. It enables us to recognize our profound interconnectedness with all beings . . . it is a measure of your humanity and your maturity. It is a measure of your open heart, and as your heart breaks open there will be room for the world to heal.

A statue

I had a pious thought, but I am not going to write it down . . . The thoughts that come to me are stupid. I  feel knocked out, but I can think of no good reason to feel otherwise. There is not much use in making long speeches to  Jesus about our pains, especially on Good Friday.

    • Yes – I read your two recent posts about Guyana and Brazilian cities and the increasing violence and instability. A few days ago in the Canadian city of Calgary there was a nonsensical stabbing death of 5 college students by another student, who happened to be the son of a police officer!?? These young people are like canaries in a coal mine. So much seems to threaten this earth at so many levels, and compassion, truth and reconciliation, and understanding seems to be our only hope.

      • Thanks for reading my posts, Bruce. Yes, I have come to the same conclusion: “compassion, truth and reconciliation, and understanding seem to be our only hope.” Therein lies our challenge to save ourselves.
