from The Heart of Creation ~ by John Main

Inside the Lady of Guadalupe Chapel - Albuquerque, New Mexico

We have to go beyond the surface of things. We cannot live our lives by always encountering reality on a two dimensional level. The Tao Te Ching expresses it like this:

The truly great person dwells on what is real and not on what is on the surface.

It is, I think, a general law of the human condition that in order to understand the universe we must understand ourselves. In order to value the cosmos, we have to learn to value ourselves.

It is only when we understand and value ourselves that we can transcend ourselves, rise above ourselves;  in the words of Jesus, ‘leave ourselves behind’.  ~ John Main

peace to all ~ Bruce

  1. What a lovely way to wake up on a Monday! Did you pay the extra amount that allows you to post videos on your WordPress account? I’ve been thinking about doing that, too. This is just such a lovely, lovely post, Bruce. I’m so glad we connected online here. Thank you.

    • Hello Susan. Glad it started your day like this, and it is wonderful to connect . A couple years ago I would have said there was no way I could make a meaningful connection with other people via the internet. Now, I stand to be corrected. 🙂

In terms of the video – no, I don’t pay extra. It is my understanding that people pay extra for video if they want it embedded on the blog post. Then their viewers don’t have leave to go to a another site.

What I did was to simply create a hyperlink to the Leonard Cohen video. The first time i did it I was suprised it worked. Fran taught me this.
