ATKINSON POINT LIGHTHOUSE AND LIONS GATE BRIDGE, WEST VANCOUVER BC, CANADA

Point Atkinson Lighthouse was built in 1875 and overlooks Burrard Inlet. In the background is Lions Gate Bridge which joins West Vancouver to downtown Vancouver (click here to see a previous post of the Vancouver Skyline). The bridge was built in built for 6 million dollars in 1937 and at a length of 1517 metres (almost 1 mile) it was recognized as the longest suspension bridge in the British Empire.

Here is the original photo I took from the ferry boat using a 200 mm telephoto lens. It was pretty washed out due to a fairly heavy haze of air pollution. To salvage the photo I increased both the contrast and the colour saturation. My final edit was to zoom in closer and crop out much of the sky and water. This brings the viewers focal point of interest to the light house, the bridge as well as the fishing boat.
